Life With Twins

11 / 23 / 1711 / 12 / 17

life-with-twinsOne mum shares what life with twins is like and how she manages to find some ‘me’ time in the chaos.

Josh Billings once said, “there are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared: twins”. And you know what? He was absolutely and undeniably right. Nothing could prepare me for what was to come. So many sleepless nights, babies crying for no apparent reason and me trying to be at several places at once. During the first year, I was so exhausted that I wanted to spend days in my bed hidden under a blanket. This is when I finally realised the importance of dedicating some time to yourself and taking care of your needs in order to be able to take care of your children. At first, balancing all the obligations was challenging – two children mean twice as effort. Eventually, everything fell into its place and I’m happy to say that I’m a proud and working mum of twin boys.

5 / 23 / 175 / 15 / 17

stay-at-home-mum-challengesLana Camillo shares some of the stay-at-home mum challenges she has found with her loving boy Mason.

Can you tell us a little about your child?
My son’s name is Mason Cory Gibbs, he’s currently five months old. He was born via emergency Caesarian six weeks early, but looking at him now you wouldn’t know! He’s now chunky and as healthy as can be!

New Christmas Traditions

11 / 9 / 1610 / 25 / 16

new-christmas-traditionsChristmas is one of my favourite times of the year. When we had our daughter, I wanted the focus to be on new Christmas traditions with her.

The magic of Christmas is something that has stayed with me since I was a little child. The butterflies that take over in the lead up, the anticipation of the ‘big day’, the family coming together, the food, the noise, the laughter, the happiness. I have grown into that adult who blasts the Christmas music (yes, starting in November) and sings happily out of tune in the merry spirit. I still get those same butterflies leading up to the ‘big day’ and still feel the love and warmth of being surrounded by family. This is exactly what I want for Cassie.

Nanny To The Rich

9 / 28 / 169 / 29 / 16

nanny-to-the-richOne nanny shares her career span, starting in London and travelling around Europe as a nanny to the rich.

I started nannying when I was 20 in London, for what I’d consider a normal, middle class family. The parents worked long hours and needed the flexibility a live-in nanny provided.

A Mother’s Revenge

9 / 9 / 168 / 26 / 16

mother's revengeAfter years of sleep-deprived night’s with her son, Caroline McMahon finally gets her mother’s revenge.

Fifteen years ago, I brought home my beautiful baby boy. It was like a scene from a movie…blissfully happy parents and a sweet, perfectly formed baby. The sun was shining and the birds were singing. I swear I could hear a background score to make the scene perfect. Life was good and we were content.

‘Extreme’ Babywearing

9 / 6 / 168 / 25 / 16

'extreme'-babywearingOne mum shares the moment she fell down the rabbit-hole into and entered the world of ‘extreme’ babywearing.

I can’t pinpoint the exact moment I fell down the rabbit-hole that is ‘extreme’ babywearing – aka using woven wraps in complicated carries to accomplish the same thing that the much simpler and probably more practical ergo 360 does – but I clearly remember my first glimpse into this strange new world.
