Playing Outdoors With Kids

7 / 26 / 177 / 16 / 17

outdoorsHere are some great tips for getting active and playing outdoors with kids.

I’ll be the first to admit it – I was never an outdoors kid. I was the child who would prefer to be snuggled up on the couch rather than running around with a ball in the backyard. My mum tried everything to get me there, from bribing to demanding, none of it worked. In my eyes, a good book was far better than some sunshine.

Golf Ball Painting

6 / 30 / 176 / 29 / 17

golf-ball-paintingKids will have a blast twisting and turning their tray to make the perfect artwork with this golf ball painting.

Materials:
Oven tray
2 x golf balls
A4 paper
Coloured paints

What’s more fun than shaking a tray about a making a mess that turns into art. Get your little ones jumping, swaying, spinning and shaking to turn their painting into something incredible. What’s great about this activity is that it is suited for all ages. Cassie and I had a blast doing it together. I put all the paints on the paper and handed the golf balls to her one by one so she could through them into the tin. I then held her hands on the pan and we started shaking together. Cassie thought it was hilarious as she watched the golf balls fly about.

Homemade Bath Paint

5 / 5 / 174 / 22 / 17

homemade-bath-paintsAfter a fun art activity that is really easy to clean up after. Try this awesome homemade bath paint.

It’s a funny thing really – my little girl hates to get her finger dirty. Don’t get me wrong, she will happily shove them in dirt (and eat said dirt), burying them in the sand and other such adventures. But if you give her a tray of paint and encourage her rub her fingers into it and get painting, she will lose it. She honestly just hates it. So I went out and bought her paint brushes and this was a different story altogether. As long as her fingers didn’t have to touch the paint, she was happier than ever. Read More

3 Great Water Play Activities

1 / 27 / 171 / 19 / 17

water play activitiesSummer is here and the days are heating up, so here are 3 great water play activities to get the kids outdoors and having fun these holidays.

Ball Sorter:
This is a great idea from Two Daloo that is not only fun, but will teach your little ones so much in the process. Buy a big packet of plastic balls (you can get these from Kmart) and start filling up some tubs with water. Use a little food dye to change the colour of the water to match the balls. Get your little one to practise their fine motor skills, helping sort the balls into the right bucket. Have a little fun with them and mix it up, putting the wrong ball in the wrong bucket to ‘trick’ them.
