Learning Through Play

Coloured Ice

1 / 20 / 171 / 12 / 17

coloured-iceLooking for a creative way too cool off in the Summer heat? Kids will love getting their hands dirty with this coloured ice experiment.

I love play ideas that are super easy to put together and just as easy to clean up afterwards. This is definitely one of those. I knew it was going to be a hit before I even brought the ice out of the freezer – Cassie just loves splashing about in water and this was no exception.

Bubble Foam

1 / 13 / 171 / 8 / 17

bubble foamThis is a great activity to get you outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and a little bit of mess along the way. Check out this bubble foam activity.

I have a confession: I love mess. I wasn’t always this way. I used to set Cassie up with a messy activity with my brain going a hundred miles an hour working out how I would clean up after it all and whether it was really worth it. In the past 18 months, I have definitely learned to relax and enjoy things a lot more. I mean, let’s be realistic: kids are messy. It’s much better to embrace it.

Best Water Parks

1 / 9 / 171 / 2 / 17

water parks in your cityWarm weather means a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine with your kids. Here is a list of some of the best water parks around Australia.

Cassie loves playing with water. We are very lucky. My mum has a pool and lives five minutes from us, so we can pop over and use it whenever suits us. We also have a nice balcony in our ground-floor unit where we set up a paddling pool over Summer, and the sand and water table is also next to it ready for some splashing fun. But nothing beats getting away to somewhere new and exciting to have a play. We have tested out a few of the water play areas around Sydney, and done some research on those in other states. If you have visited any of them, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Contact Christmas Art

contact Christmas artWant to keep your little one entertained without too much mess? Check out this fun contact Christmas art.

I am not going to lie, when it comes to art and craft ideas, I spend a lot of my time hoping Cassie will get a little older so we can start doing all the fun stuff. There is the painting, the drawing the, the gluing, the cutting, the sticking – all coming to together to create works of art. At the moment she has about a one-minute attention span when the paints come out, which isn’t always worth the effort setting up.
