Surviving The Two-Week Wait

6 / 10 / 166 / 4 / 16

two week wait

What tactics do you have in place to help you through the trying-to-conceive process and surviving the two-week wait?

When I was trying to conceive, it was my most feared part of the month: the dreaded two-week wait.

In the first weeks of your cycle (or at least after your period ends) you have determination, hope and a goal: to have sex at the optimum time so you fall pregnant. Game on. There’s the temping, the OPKS and, of course, the frequent sex, all keeping you preoccupied.

Stuffed Capsicum

stuffed capsicum

Mix up your regular weeknight dinners with this delicious alternative: stuffed capsicum.

We can get a bit repetitive with dinners in our household. The reliable meat and veg combination tends to take over most nights, and even then our variety of vegetables don’t change as much as they perhaps should. This stuffed capsicum dish is a great one to pair with a piece of meat to mix up your weeknight dinners, or even just to eat on its own. It’s quick and easy to make too.

Am I Pregnant?

3 / 12 / 167 / 14 / 16

woman wondering am I pregnant? If you’re like me, you spend your two week wait symptom-spotting and driving yourself mad. One million-dollar question plagues all your thoughts: is my period on the way, or am I pregnant?

Unfortunately, there’s a fine line between the two. Early pregnancy symptoms can mimic premenstrual ones, as the change in hormones during the onset of pregnancy is similar to the hormone fluctuations that occur at the start of your menstrual cycle – but that doesn’t have to stop you from guessing, right?

What I Wish I Knew About Ovulation

7 / 22 / 156 / 16 / 16

about ovulationFelicity Frankish shares the gaping holes in her sex-ed classes and shares all she knows about ovulation.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers those awkward classes we were embarrassingly subjected to in our teenage years. Putting condoms on bananas; videos of hair growing in places we never had it before; the changing female body; men with their voices changing overnight – each one was met with stifled giggles as we tried to hide our mortification.

The safe-sex talks were just as emotionally damaging. I remember role-playing different scenarios and wanting to die a thousand deaths in the process. It seemed the one thing drilled into us over and over was that if we didn’t want to get pregnant, abstinence was key. I walked away from the classes feeling reassured of the fact that if we had to go to all these measures to prevent it, surely falling pregnant would be easy when the time came.
