Pesto and Mozzarella Focaccia

11 / 21 / 1711 / 12 / 17

focacciaThis pesto and mozzarella focaccia is the perfect accompaniment to any BBQ and is sure to wow your guests.

I had a party to go to and I wanted to experiment with a new recipe. There is nothing I love more than homemade bread – especially when there’s lots of added flavour. I found this great pesto focaccia recipe online and adapted it to suit my tastes. I delivered it to our mothers’ group party straight out of the oven and it was gone in seconds. There is no need for a dip or anything else to go with this bread. Its cheesy, pesto, pine nut goodness makes the perfect standalone snack.

5 Ways To Get Kids To Eat Their Vegetables

11 / 2 / 1710 / 19 / 17

kids-eating-vegetablesBlogger Jane Wilson shares her 5 ways to get kids to eat their vegetables.

Kids vs food, this is the eternal battle parents are leading, trying to get their kids to eat healthier. Most kids hate vegetables more than anything, and making them eat those is like trying to talk to a wall, or even worse. Brute force sometimes works, but most kids retract when you try to make them do something, and chances are they will end up hating vegetables even more. Therefore, you need to be smarter, and use tricks to mask the vegetables, so your kids won’t even know what they’re eating until it’s too late. Here are some tips you can use.

Layered Mexican Dip

10 / 31 / 1710 / 19 / 17

Layered dipsWhether you are having people over on the weekend, or just want to enjoy this treat by yourself, this tasty layered Mexican dip is the perfect snack.

I went to a first birthday party last year, where one of these dips was featured. Seeing the avocado and sour cream (two of my favourite ingredients), I was drawn to it straight away – and it didn’t disappoint. For most of the party you could find me standing next to this dip table scooping away at all that remained. Let’s face it, the dip was a real winner and I needed to know how to make it.

Nutrition At Childcare – Starting Healthy Habits Young

10 / 19 / 1710 / 8 / 17

Nutrition at childcare is an important topic that needs to be discussed, so we can ensure we are giving our children the best start to life possible.

Food is a very important topic in our home and has been since the minute I brought Cassie home from the hospital. Like every other parent out there, I didn’t want to raise a fussy child, but with no experience behind me, I was unsure exactly how I planned to achieve this. I had ideas in mind from the start, but just like every other well-laid plan that comes with parenthood, children get in the way.

Nutella Cookies

7 / 4 / 176 / 24 / 17

nutella-cookiesWhile they may not be the healthiest snack, these Nutella cookies do make the perfect pick-me-up treat.

What do you do when you have a giant jar of Nutella in your cupboard, teasing you to grab a spoon and dig in? Turn it into a recipe of course, because Nutella in anything is bound to taste good. These delicious biscuits, while not exactly of the healthy variety, do make a delicious pick-me-up snack. I made a batch of them the night before I took Cassie to The Wiggles concert. When she asked for food (as predicted) about halfway through, I delivered, and these tasty treats had her dancing all the way to the end.
